Stand Firm & Labor On

Stand Firm & Labor On

A quiet act of kindness that no one notices. A prayer that seems to go unanswered. A sacrifice made in love that isn’t returned. A long season of simply…enduring.

There are moments in life that feel like they disappear. It can begin to feel like those moments just vanish, as if they don’t really count. But Scripture gives us a different picture.

This Sunday, we hear our God speak to us through the words of His Apostle Paul to the church at Corinth: “Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Not “might not be in vain.” Not “probably not in vain.” But simply, firmly, absolutely “not in vain.”

How can Paul speak with such certainty? Because he doesn’t just think Christ is risen from the dead. He knows it. And the resurrection of Jesus changes the value of everything.

If death were the end, then yes—so much of life would be fleeting, fragile, and meaningless. But Christ has been raised. And that means what is done in Him—the “small,” the “forgotten,” the seemingly unseen—everything that is done in Him endures. God is using you even when it’s tough—sometimes especially when it’s tough—to work out something glorious, to His glory. Our Father God is shaping and forming you, preparing you for a kingdom that will not spoil or fade or perish—a kingdom of endless joy, forever free of sorrow and pain, depression or despair. We don’t just think it. We know it.

Join us this Sunday as we are reminded of what the resurrection means for our faith and for our everyday lives—that we can stand firm and labor on because Christ is risen… and because we, too, shall rise.
