The Big Amusement Park in the Sky

The Big Amusement Park in the Sky

Everyone wants to go to heaven,

but nobody wants to die!

Heaven is a topic many would prefer to leave for another day. The only time most bring up the subject is when someone has died. Death has such a brutal finality that about the only reaction to it is to talk about heaven. That’s why at funerals, regardless of the individual’s beliefs or moral character, people say things like, “He’s in a better place.” “She’s at peace now.”

Most of the time, however, our attitude about heaven is that it can wait. Some go so far as to say it’s a pathetic waste to spend one’s life hoping to someday go to a “big amusement park in the sky.” Interestingly, Jesus Christ said the exact opposite. He directly contradicted common thought and told people that they could acquire all the money in the world, but that fortune would be worthless if the person did not enter heaven after death.

So who’s right? And just as important, how does my decision about heaven affect my life at this present moment? Someday all of us – yes, everyone – is going to find out who is right. At the moment we take our final breath we’ll discover if there is a heaven or not. Then our eyes will be opened. Are you ready for the implications of that discovery without knowing fully what Jesus said about heaven?
