Too Far Gone

Too Far Gone

The two men were talking about a mutual friend from childhood.

“Whatever happened to him?” asked the one man.

“Oh, he made some bad choices. Pretty much messed up his life,” replied the other.

“Anything I can do to help?”

“Naw. He’s too far gone I’d say.

And that’s when the conversation changed to football.

“Too far gone.” Unfortunately, we write off people with phrases like that far more often than we realize. Their problems seem insurmountable. Our resources appear small in comparison and so we just walk away. We experience a brief period of sadness, but often the distractions of life quickly take us to some other concern.

One of the spectacular truths in God’s involvement with human beings is that repeatedly he demonstrates that no one is “too far gone”. As long as the individual is breathing, the transforming love of Jesus Christ is available to that person. To say it in even stronger terms, the heart of God yearns for “too far gone” people to experience what only he can do in their lives.

Whether you think you’re “too far gone” even for God’s help or know someone who feels that way, join us for our Sunday morning worship. It may be a cliché, but it’s true: God is only a prayer away.
